Buy, or make your own, scented candles at Penn and Beech

Candles with over 92 scents await folks who walk into Penn and Beech Candle Co.

But if they choose, customers can make their own custom fragrance scent and make their own natural gourmet soy candles. And if they choose to pour their candle themselves, they can head for dinner in a Mass Ave restaurant while the candle “cures” for about 90 minutes.

As an added bonus, Penn and Beech will deliver the finished product to the Mass Ave  restaurant.

Soon, but not quite yet, those customers will be able to wait for their candles to cure while sipping wine or beer.

The unique store which opened in mid-March in the new 747 College Ave. building is operated by sisters Brianna and Lacey Doles and Brianna’s husband, Seth. Brianna and Seth are Old Northside residents, having also spent some time in Herron-Morton Place.

As previously reported, the sisters began the enterprise by hand-pouring small batches in their homes located on Pennsylvania and Beech streets (hence, the name).

For now, they’ve moved production out of their homes and into the new store. They offer candles in varied sizes, although the standard size is eight ounces. They also have reed diffusers (for flame-free environments such as workspaces), and soy wax tarts (those little things that melt and smell good).

The new store features ironwork and shelves by New Vintage Metalcraft in Brownsburg, table tops by Bowtie Woodworks located in Ruckus in the Circle City Industrial Complex, and chandeliers by Color Story Studio.

Tentative hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. For more information, go to www.pennandbeech.com.
