The Library presents a free service for unemployed or underemployed individuals to receive one-on-one assistance to enhance their employment skills.

Robots After Noon in the Learning Curve

Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Families are invited to try a variety of robotics technology and practice programming. With various robots and games available each week, families can try something new or dive deeper into a favorite.

12 Days of Winter

Dec. 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 21 & 28 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Adults are invited to join the staff of Central Library in celebrating the winter season during this do-it-yourself craft series. Create winter and holiday-themed decorations and gifts for home to enjoy all season long. This program will focus on creating an angel sculpture.

Game Night

Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Have fun with giant-sized games and enjoy a collection of over 120 classic and modern board, card and dice games for kids and adults alike.

Knit One, Crochet Too

Dec. 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Adults are invited to Central Library’s Makerspace for a night of fiber crafts and fun. Bring your current work in progress or start something new. Basic materials will be available for beginners.

eBook Tinker Station

Dec. 5, 12, 19 & 26 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Learn how to read, watch and listen on a PC, tablet or phone, as well as search and download materials from the Library’s extensive collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks and digital music.

Little Learners Storytime

Dec. 6, 13, 20 & 27 at 11 a.m.

Little Learners up to age 5 and their families are invited for story time in the Green Screen Theater. They’ll read stories, sing songs, and rhyme! Stay after to play!

Turn the Page @ Central

Dec. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. Adults are invited to create decorative items from recycled books. All materials will be provided.

Rainbow Reads Book Club

Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. Adults are invited to explore the world of LGBTQ+ literature. Book club picks span from the classics to science fiction and everything in between!

The book to be discussed is “Sugar Run” by Mesha Maren.

Learning Syllables Through Drumming

Dec. 14 at 11 a.m.

Preschoolers ages 3 – 6 and an adult are invited to experiment with words, syllables and articulation to create their own patterns of sounds. They’ll learn about rhythm, patterns and rhymes and sing songs. This program will be led by Arts for Learning teaching artist Lawrence Clark III. This program will be held in the Learning Curve.

Coloring Café

Dec. 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Adults are invited to experience the latest trend in relaxation and fun: coloring! Enjoy warm beverages and soothing music while coloring on pages designed for adults. Colored pencils are provided.

That Peace Open Mic

Dec. 19 from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Visit the Center for Black Literature & Culture (CBLC) at Central Library for an event where “community” is celebrated and the “ART of expression” is centered.

Junior Scientists: All About Animals

Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Preschoolers ages 4 – 6 and an adult are invited to cultivate their love of animals during this fun program presented by Snapology. They’ll learn about animal life cycles, characteristics and traits using K’Nex toys and other interactive learning tools.

Open Computer Lab

Dec. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Receive personalized assistance in using Microsoft Word and other applications. Discover Library eBooks, eMagazines, Kanopy, Hoopla, OneClickDigital, and the many Library online databases.

Beginning Computer Classes: Copy, Paste, Print

Dec. 12 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Adults are invited to learn how to copy, paste and print their cherished photos, clip art and other images into emails, Facebook and Microsoft Word.

The Road to Giving: Preschool Art Workshop

Dec. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Preschoolers ages 3 – 6 and an adult are invited to join Ripple Mobile Arts to learn the importance of sharing with others and to create a masterpiece to share with someone special.

A Plethora of Computer Classes: Make Your Own Personalized Wall Calendar

Dec. 18 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Adults are invited to use a template in Microsoft Publisher to create a personalized wall calendar. Participants must bring their own photos, either downloaded on a USB or emailed to themselves.

Figuring Out Your Salary Needs and Where to Find the Jobs

Dec. 19 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Adults are invited to this program presented by the Southeast Community Services Center during which they’ll explore what salary they need to earn and how to find where those jobs are located.

Minecraft Club

Dec. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Individuals of all ages are invited to join the Library’s Minecraft Club and participate in Minecraft activities with others.

School-aged children are invited to participate in a hands-on STEAM program. They’ll have the chance to explore science, technology, engineering, art and math.
