Monumental Marathon will wind through Mass Ave and several Urban Times neighborhoods

The gun will sound at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, for the 2021 CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, with both the marathon and half-marathon beginning on Capitol Avenue at the Indiana Statehouse. A 5K run will start 35 minutes later at the same start.

Both the marathon and half-marathon will be routed through Mass Ave, as well as Chatham Arch, St. Joseph, the Old Northside, Herron-Morton Place and Fall Creek Place. The half-marathon will go through Historic Meridian Park before the runners turn back south toward the finish line near the Statehouse.

The route for the 5K run covers Downtown south of Washington Street and through the Old Southside.

Other highlights of the full marathon and half-marathon include the Arts Garden, Lucas Oil Stadium, Circle Center Mall, Warehouse District, Eli Lilly campus, Bankers Life Fieldhouse and Monument Circle. The route of the full marathon also includes

North Meridian Street, Washington Boulevard through Meridian-Kessler, Butler University, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Broad Ripple, State Fairgrounds and Fall Creek Parkway.

Opening ceremonies begin at 7:30 a.m., with a wheelchair race beginning at 7:58 a.m. All activities are expected to be completed by 5 p.m.
