Leaders of the Mass Ave Cultural Arts District have unveiled the Mass Ave NEXT Vision Plan – a city-certified strategic initiative designed to unify the community around a shared future for the district. The Mass Ave NEXT plan will serve as an overlay to existing historic preservation and neighborhood plans – enhancing, not replacing, their foundational work.
The NEXT Vision Plan will provide a framework for community-based initiatives that foster cultural vibrancy, economic empowerment, livability and long-term sustainability, ensuring Mass Ave remains a dynamic, welcoming and livable urban district.
Members of the community are invited to help shape the future of the district at an interactive kickoff event, “Map Your Mass,” scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at The Garage Food Hall atrium in the Bottleworks District.
The “Map Your Mass” kickoff will feature a large-scale aerial map, several feet long, where visitors and residents can directly identify neighborhood “hearts,” gaps in services, and physical barriers to connectivity. The goal is to provide a loose, interactive, and fun experience for visitors, residents, and business owners to be heard.
In addition to the in-person kickoff, a public survey will launch in March to gather broader community ideas and perspectives.
