With 64 shows and over 335 performances in 11 days, volunteers are a crucial role in the success of the upcoming IndyFringe Festival. And that doesn’t even take into account staffing of the Festival’s Beer Tent and special events such as the Miss IndyFringe Pageant and Awards Night.
That’s why IndyFringe has put out a call for volunteers who love going to the theater and are interested in behind-the-scenes Fringe action which will take place this year from Aug. 15 to Aug. 25.
Volunteering is a way to support local and touring Fringe artists and their amazing work, get great work experience, improve on your communication skills, and meet new people, said IndyFringe CEO and Festival Director Pauline Moffat.
“If we haven’t convinced you yet, volunteers receive their very own one-of-a-kind Fringe t-shirt, the opportunity to earn free tickets (so they, too, can enjoy all the exciting shows), and discounts at The Beer Tent to refresh themselves,” she said.
Volunteer positions for the festival range from ushering to working the headquarters office and even bartending (for those who have a beverage permit). “If you appreciate the arts, enjoy the thrill of trying new things, or simply want to run with a crazy, creative crowd, volunteering is the perfect opportunity for you,” Moffat said.
Go to www.indyfringe.org and click on “Get involved / Volunteer” to learn more or sign up. Returning volunteers can also update their profiles. Those who do will receive Festival-related updates.
