Interstate project will close Michigan Street later this week

On or after Thursday, June 17 – and after Vermont Street reopens under the Downtown interstates – Michigan Street will be closed between Pine and Davidson streets for overhead bridge demolition. The closure, part of the North Split reconstruction project, is expected to continue until July 2. The official detour will use Rural Street, Washington Street and College Avenue.

In other North Split developments, according to a report from the Indiana Department of Transportation:

+ The full-time closure of Central Avenue between 11th and 12th street has ended.

+ Vermont Street between Davidson and Pine streets is expected to open June 16. Eastbound traffic is detoured to New York Street and westbound traffic is detoured to Michigan Street. Visit northsplit.com/maps/local-streets for the most current impact on local streets.

+ Utility work will briefly close a portion of the Monon Loop June 21-23. Utilities are busy relocating their infrastructure while North Split construction continues. AES will be relocating a transmission pole beginning June 15 and it will impact the Monon Loop. To ensure safety for bicyclists and pedestrians, a small portion of the Monon Loop will be closed between College Avenue and 10th Street from June 21 and 23. This is a daytime closure from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The detour uses the sidewalk on the west side of College Avenue.
