Fletcher Place coffee shop to celebrate 12 years of giving back to community

Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Co.and its Charitable Foundation will host the Fletcher Place coffee shop’s 12-year anniversary celebration from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. This year’s silent auction will benefit ProAct Indy. The day will be an opportunity to connect with our neighbors, near and far and celebrate the coffee shop’s giving efforts.

ProAct Indy equips youth to positively impact the lives of those around them and in the process, fuel their personal growth, positively develop their character, and position them to acquire the 21st-century skills they need to be successful in post-secondary education and the workforce. www.proactindy.org.

“We are very pleased to partner with ProAct Indy this year for our silent auction,” said Judy Litsey, CFCC Charitable Foundation Board president. “ Since the CFCC Charitable Foundation’s launch in 2019, we have helped fulfill the coffee shop’s vision to be a business that not only creates community but also involves its customers and neighboring businesses in giving back to the community.”

Said ProAct Indy founder Derrin Slack, “ProAct is an organization committed to our mission and values, and we love working with people and organizations who understand shared-value. CFCC Charitable Foundation is one of those organizations. With a shared interest in building intentional relationships, the partnership between our two organizations will allow us to move the needle in addressing poverty and racism and drive our important mission forward. Together, we will stand in the gap for vulnerable populations and engineer upward mobility for our city’s most vulnerable population – our youth.”

Doug Litsey and his son, Jeff, opened Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Co. in 2009. Since that time, the coffee shop has given tips to various nonprofit organizations. In 2018, the coffee shop created the not-for-profit Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Co. Charitable Foundation  to increase effectiveness in fundraising for local nonprofits. The foundation received 501(c)3 status and is led by a six-person Board of Directors.

In 2020, the Charitable Foundation donated $13,336.09 to ten local charities. In 2019, that figure was $11,733.66 across ten local charities.

The Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company Charitable Foundation gives preference to small nonprofits that may struggle for name recognition and have annual budgets of less than $1 million.
