Known for his fabulous voice and even more fabulous persona, a night in the presence of Burgess is sure to be something unforgettable.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Nuviola will take the stage on Thursday, Sept. 19, as a part of the Christel DeHaan International Series. Like the music from her native island of Cuba, she embodies an electric blend of musical genres with a sound highly influenced by jazz, Bossa Nova, Cuban Son, Bolero, Fílin, classical, and American genres. Known as “La Sonera Del Mundo,” Aymée is one of the founders of the “Timba” genre and the first female to lead a “Timba” band around the world.
Warner, known to millions of television viewers across America for his famed acting career (such as his breakthrough role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show or, more recently, as Dr. AJ Austin in Fox’s medical drama The Resident), will bring his jazz-funk band “Miles Long” to The Cabaret on Saturday, Sept. 21, in partnership with Indy Jazz Fest. The show will be an amalgamation of his many talents and musical styles and is sure to be exceptional.
The Big Broadway Sing-Along also returns for its holiday edition, led by local favorites Scott Semester and Sean Baker “the Music Maker” for a communal evening of music, pageantry, and the magic of Broadway show tunes, allowing audiences to sing along to their favorite musical theatre and holiday songs. Due to popular demand, the show will be expanded to a two-show run on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 11 and 12, as part of the Uniquely Cabaret Series.
The Next Generation Series, a staple of The Cabaret’s education and artist development program, has added a new partner to its roster. IU Soul Revue, America’s first and finest collegiate Black popular music ensemble, has been acclaimed since 1971 for dynamic performances of R&B, soul, funk, and contemporary Black popular music delivered by its commanding vocalists, powerful horn line, and tight rhythm section. On Friday, Nov. 8, it will bring “A Taste of Soul” to The Cabaret.
The popular student showcase with Ball State University’s Department of Theater and Dance will return for an expanded two-night run on Jan. 19-20. The Cabaret spotlights the next generation of cabaret stars in a memorable evening of music, laughter, inspiration, and joy featuring exciting new talent from Ball State University, whose alumni have gone on to star in Broadway shows and touring casts all over the world.
