The first artistic program produced by IF Theatre will take place on Thursday, Oct. 31.
That event will be, fittingly, Haunted Harmonies, set for 7 to 9:30 p.m. at The Play Ground, one of IF Theatre’s three stages. IF Theatre staff said they are excited about the event for several reasons:
- Unique Halloween experience: Haunted Harmonies offers a fresh take on Halloween by combining live music, outdoor cinema, spooky storytelling, and the fun of roasting marshmallows – a perfect blend of seasonal charm and cultural enrichment.
- Live score for Silent Films: The event will feature live music by Forward Motion, an acclaimed chamber ensemble, performing a newly improvised score for two classic Halloween films, Nosferatu (1922) and Ghosts Before Breakfast (1928), offering a rare chance to see these cinematic gems with a live soundtrack.
- Supporting local talent: By highlighting Forward Motion’s commitment to new compositions and free improvisation, Haunted Harmonies showcases the best of Indianapolis’ classical music scene, reinforcing IF Theatre’s role in nurturing local arts and culture.
- Community-Centric Gathering: More than just a performance, Haunted Harmonies is a community event that brings people together in a fun and casual outdoor setting—complete with storytelling, costumes, and s’mores—perfect for families and friends.
IF Theatre, as it has recently been rebranded, is the organization which operates the annual Indianapolis Fringe Theatre Festival, as well as other specialty festivals and various plays in its three stages along the Mass Ave cultural district.
