Fifth pianist competition finalist to perform Feb. 23

The Indiana History Center is located Downtown along the Central Canal.

Angie Zhang, who spends her time as a soloist, chamber musician, educator and speaker, will perform in the Indiana History Center on Sunday, Feb. 23, as part of the American Piano Awards Premiere Series.

Zhang is the fifth of five finalists, her performance wrapping of the “semifinals” of the American Pianist Association’s classical season. The performance will run from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Equally at ease on modern and historical pianos, Zhang’s solo program will highlight the rich diversity of classical piano repertoire, blending Mozart’s graceful elegance, Mendelssohn’s emotional depth, Cramer’s technical refinement and Liszt’s dynamic virtuosity into a captivating musical experience.

She will be joined by the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra after intermission to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9, a piece that captures the spirit of a 21-year-old composer on the brink of greatness.
Angie holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors from Juilliard. She also received awards degrees in Fortepiano Performance and Piano Performance from University of Michigan in May 2024. From her base in Los Angeles, she travels around the world to perform. She said she is excited to be reunited this season with prior collaborators Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and Dover Quartet.
