Step into the spirit realm with an immersive show at the Athenaeum

NoExit Performance will present The Gathering in the Athenaeum’s Basile Theatre on two weekends, Oct. 16-18 and 23-25.

The historic Athenaeum will host No Exit Performance’s immersive production, The Gathering.

The immersive theater concept will be a trip back to 1919, when spiritualism swept across the Midwest as Hoosiers searched for meaning after the devastation of war and Spanish Flu. Performers, prophets, and true believers filled parlors and theaters with promises of connection to the other side.

The Athenaeum will opens its doors to that world once again, the ticket to the show being a passport to another time and place, said the show’s producers. The audience will:

* Sip spirits before Prohibition takes hold.

* Wander hidden corners of the 126-year-old landmark.

* Brush against mysteries that linger just beyond the veil.

Audience members will witness a world-renowned medium revealing her gifts, a truth-seeker fighting to expose deception, and a woman caught between the two must face the echoes of the past. This immersive journey unfolds throughout the Athenaeum, guiding the audience through narrow corridors, staircases and rooms rarely seen by the public.

The performance lasts about 90 minutes and is done in intimate groups of just 50 people. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
