While most of the Indianapolis Ballet Company’s programs are performed at the Tobias Theatre at Newfields, the troupe traditionally makes two ventures to the District Theatre – the first being an IndyFringe performance in August.
The second – called in the past New Works – is this year titled Eclectia, with five performances set from Thursday, Oct. 30, through Sunday, Nov. 2.
The production is subtitled “Rich heritage meets today’s spirit,” and described as a celebration of contrasts and connections. From the elegance of classical form to the edge of contemporary expression, each work offers a unique voice – together composing a bold, multifaceted portrait of ballet today. This is where the past inspires the future, and movement knows no boundaries, Ballet officials said.
Eclectia is a mixed-repertoire production of original works by the Indianapolis Ballet artistic team, guest choreographers and Indianapolis Ballet company artists. Featured choreographers are Sean Aaron Carmon, rehearsal director for Dance Kaleidoscope; Francis Veyette, rehearsal director for Indianapolis Ballet; and Indianapolis Ballet company artists Avery Ward and Logan O’Neal.
