Urban Times-area venues prepared for Spirit & Place ‘experiences’

Kan-Kan Cinema and Restaurant will host Sacred Roots: FernGully and Earth’s Spiritual Stories as part of the 30th annual Spirit & Place Festival.

Thirty-two events and over 80 “experiences” dot the agenda of the 30th annual Spirit & Place Festival, with Nature as the theme.

The festival will take place from Thursday, Nov. 6, to Sunday, Nov. 16, with events spread across six counties – Marion, Johnson, Boone, Hamilton, Madison, and Putnam.

Spirit & Place will offer experiences from birdwatching and nature journaling to poetry readings, film screenings, concerts, exhibitions, and lectures.

The annual Public Conversation – Sacred Synergies: Nature, Faith, & Science – will be staged at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, and also virtually, with a conversation featuring The Nature Conservancy’s chief scientist, Katharine Hayhoe, with communal watch party.

The 30th annual Spirit & Place will conclude at The Amp at 16 Tech. Connected by Nature will include a new commission by spoken word artist Manon Voice, music from Premium Blend.

The event will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., also featuring local food and hands-on activities inspired by this year’s festival events. Participants can reflect on the Nature theme through art, music, and shared experiences that nourish both spirit and community, organizers said. Walk-ins welcome, but registration is encouraged.
